This is the family which I can say for some kind of certainty is 'our' family. Oral family history takes my branch back to Shap within the census years and from there I have tracked back through the census to this family.

Thomas Garnett was my ggggrandfather. He was christened in Kendal parish and came to Orton parish sometime before the 1841 census, he married twice and had at least 11 children.
He married Elizabeth Dobson on 16 Aug 1830 at Orton.
He had two children with Elizabeth,
John Garnett c. 19 Feb 1832 Orton
Elizabeth Garnett c. 11 Aug 1833 Orton
(sometime between 1833 and 1838 Elizabeth the wife must have died)
He married Margaret Richardson on 20 Oct 1838 at Orton.
He had the following children with Margaret
Barbara Garnett c. 25 Aug 1839 Orton
Thomas Garnett c. 18 Apr 1841 Orton
James Garnett c. 15 Jan 1843 Orton
William Garnett c. 25 Dec 1844 Orton
Christopher Garnett c. 2 Jul 1846 Orton
Sarah Garnett c. 30 Apr 1848 Orton

Daniel Garnett born 1852
Anthony Garnett born 1855
